Recap – VR Business Club Reality Connect with Big Picture on March 17, 2026
Beim aktuellen Reality Connect Online-Talk des VR Business Club sprach Maximilian Vogel, Co-Founder von Big Picture, über eine unbequeme Realität: Die überwältigende Mehrheit aller KI-Projekte erreicht nie den produktiven Einsatz.
Between Enthusiasm and Stagnation
The situation is similar in many companies. Initial AI demos work, teams are enthusiastic, and budgets are approved. But after the pilot phase, things often come to a standstill. Projects quietly disappear into a drawer.
The reason isn’t the technology. It’s the organization.
The real reason for the failure
Maximilian Vogel made it clear that up to 95 percent of AI initiatives fail not because of algorithms, but because of fundamental business mistakes:
- AI is understood as a tool, not as a transformation
- Processes are unclear or not clearly defined
- Data quality is inadequate
- Departments and technical teams do not work together seamlessly
- Target images remain blurry or cannot be measured
Productive AI means:
- stabile Prozesse
- clear responsibilities
- ongoing model updates
- measurable business goals
Without these elements, AI remains an experiment.
What Sets Successful Projects Apart
The session made it abundantly clear: AI pilot projects rarely fail because of the code. They fail due to a lack of structural integration within the company.Successful organizations take a different approach. They choose clearly defined, repeatable use cases with direct business benefits. They set precise targets, such as the degree of automation or accuracy. And they make a conscious effort to invest in evaluation, integration, and collaboration between business units and technology teams.
AI is not being introduced here, but rather integrated.
Conclusion
The session made it abundantly clear: AI pilot projects rarely fail because of the code. They fail due to a lack of structural integration within the company.
If you want to use AI successfully, you need to focus less on tools and more on processes, accountability, and implementation.
The difference between hype and impact lies not in the technology itself, but in the ability to translate it into real value creation.
