We visited our new member Sandbox VR.

Ever completely immersed yourself in a VR game?

On Friday, we visited our new member Sandbox VR – and what can we say: it was wild. Here’s an attempt to describe the whole thing in our own words.

We chose the game “SEEKERS OF THE SHARD – DRAGONFIRE” because the idea of fighting dragons and mystical creatures sounded too good to pass up. Together with founders Carina Busch and Johannes Gill, we were fully equipped with full-body motion trackers (usually only seen in Hollywood) and VR glasses.

Once we had our gear on, we slipped into our roles as heroes. The surroundings? Breathtaking: mountains, waterfalls, jungle-like paths—just like in an Indiana Jones movie. But then things got serious. Red dragons and dark creatures came at us. It was time to fight, dodge, survive. Swords and throwing weapons in hand, vibrating vests on our bodies – every hit felt real. And if you fell, the team could bring you back into the game. Thankfully.

In the end, we saved the kingdom together—and had an incredible amount of fun doing it.

Three reasons why 30 minutes of VR at Sandbox is worthwhile:

  1. Switch off completely – switch off properly
  2. Immediately connected as a team – it feels as if you have known each other forever
  3. You experience the story right in the middle of it – not as a spectator, but as the hero.

In addition to Seekers, Sandbox VR also offers other blockbuster games:
Squid Game Virtuals, Rebel Moon (sci-fi action from the Netflix universe), the Deadwood series (zombie shooter) – and, starting in September, even Stranger Things. 🧟‍♂️
